While at Comic Con 2010 we were lucky enough to be able to interview some amazing talent for their new film “Hanna.” Directed by Joe Wright (Pride and Prejudice, The Soloist), “Hanna” tells the story of a 16 year-old-girl raised by her father in the wilderness to be the perfect assassin. Interviewer Kyle Reinfried was able to get some insight on the production, as well as some of the personal relationships between the cast.
Hanna is a film about a 14-year-old who was raised by her father to be a cold-hearted killing machine. Starring Cate Blanchett, Eric Bana, Saoirse Ronan and directed by Joe Wright. The film comes out on April 8, 2011.
Hanna (Ronan) is a teenage girl. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a solider; these come from being raised by her father (Bana), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland. Living a life unlike any other teenager, her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own (Ms. Blanchett). As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.

NASA is a pioneering leader in research, development, and design. This year, five different NASA technologies were included on the Research and Design 100 Awards list. Four awards were given to NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland and one award was given to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

The skills available to you will be: Diplomacy, Scavenging, and Crafting. These options will give your various crew members the abilities to make and find new items for you, go on secret diplomatic missions, or even scavenge scrap metal from a destroyed enemy. We think this idea is absolutely awesome and it will take a lot of the mundane aspects of crafting and farming out of the equation. This game looks better and better with each update.

It has been confirmed that a micro-organism that thrives in the toxic chemical Arsenic has been discovered in Mono Lake of California. The micro-organisms DNA is Arsenic based, which is vastly different from the phosphorous based DNA that every other being on Earth has.
The news heralds in the knowledge that life can start in more ways than we think, and hopefully open the eyes of future explorers to have an open mind when looking for other inhabited worlds.
Researchers conducting tests in the harsh environment of Mono Lake in California have discovered the first known microorganism on Earth able to thrive and reproduce using the toxic chemical arsenic. The microorganism substitutes arsenic for phosphorus in its cell components.
“The definition of life has just expanded,” said Ed Weiler, NASA’s associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate at the agency’s Headquarters in Washington. “As we pursue our efforts to seek signs of life in the solar system, we have to think more broadly, more diversely and consider life as we do not know it.”
“We know that some microbes can breathe arsenic, but what we’ve found is a microbe doing something new — building parts of itself out of arsenic,” said Felisa Wolfe-Simon, a NASA Astrobiology Research Fellow in residence at the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, Calif., and the research team’s lead scientist. “If something here on Earth can do something so unexpected, what else can life do that we haven’t seen yet?”
The newly discovered microbe, strain GFAJ-1, is a member of a common group of bacteria, the Gammaproteobacteria. In the laboratory, the researchers successfully grew microbes from the lake on a diet that was very lean on phosphorus, but included generous helpings of arsenic. When researchers removed the phosphorus and replaced it with arsenic the microbes continued to grow. Subsequent analyses indicated that the arsenic was being used to produce the building blocks of new GFAJ-1 cells.
